A good cut is barely visible – yet it makes your tree safer and healthier. We prune to the German ZTV tree-care standard: as much as necessary, as little as possible.

The right cut depends on species, age and location. We give honest advice – even when the answer is “not needed yet”.

  • Crown care

    Removing deadwood, diseased and crossing branches for a healthy, stable crown.

  • Deadwood removal

    Dead branches can fall at any time. We remove them before anything happens.

  • Crown reduction

    Careful reduction when a tree is too heavy, too wide or at risk of breaking.

  • Clearance pruning

    Clearing branches over paths, driveways and roads – typically 2.5 m above footpaths and 4.5 m above carriageways.

  • Clearance from buildings

    Branches over roofs, facades or solar panels are cut back properly.

  • Crown bracing

    Weak unions are secured with dynamic bracing systems – instead of topping the tree.

Why we never top trees

Topping makes a tree look tidy for a season – and weakens it for good. Large wounds let decay in, and the new shoots are poorly anchored.

We make cuts in the right place: at the branch collar, back to a suitable lateral, in sensible sizes. The tree stays vital, and you need pruning less often.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to prune a tree?

For many broadleaf trees, late summer is ideal because wounds seal well. Heavy cutbacks are only allowed from October to February. Gentle work such as deadwood removal is possible all year.

How often should a tree be pruned?

Young trees benefit from formative pruning every two to three years. Mature trees usually need crown care only every five to seven years – or whenever deadwood appears.

Can I cut branches from my neighbour’s tree?

Under § 910 of the German Civil Code you may remove overhanging branches under certain conditions – for example after giving your neighbour reasonable notice. Tree protection rules still apply. When in doubt, talk to your neighbour first; we are happy to advise on doing it properly.
